Acupuncture can aid the body in preparation for pregnancy with the following conditions:

Hormonal imbalance
Uterine Fibroids
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Premature Ovarian Failure
Advanced maternal age
Recurrent Miscarriage
Luteal Phase Defect
Thyroid/Autoimmune Issues
Diminished Egg Quality Issues
Immunologic infertility
Unexplained Infertility
Assistance with Intra Uterine Inseminations (IUI)
Assistance with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
Male Factor Infertility

If possible, it is ideal to start treatment three months before your IUI/IVF procedure. This would give the 90 days to affect the quality of the ovum. If that is not possible I may recommend twice weekly treatments to increase qi and blood circulation to the ovum and uterine lining quality. Additionally, treatment on the day of egg retrieval and before and after the embryo transfer, greatly prepares your body for implantation and increases your chances for pregnancy.

Women: Once or twice a week. Day of egg retrieval, and before and after embryo transfer.

Men: Once a week

Pregnancy: It can be very beneficial to receive acupuncture during pregnancy. Acupuncture helps with numerous possible imbalances: fatigue, morning sickness, heartburn, sciatica, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, constipation or diarrhea, breech or labor induction. It is also helpful in preventing miscarriage. Treatments may be weekly while there is imbalance, but many women find a treatment once a month during pregnancy keeps them feeling healthy and active.

Calm baby treatment: This consists of two treatments. The first is in the third month and the second is in the eight month of pregnancy. Treatment consists of moxabustion on a particular acupuncture point, which builds the baby’s constitution making a “calm baby”.
